USING RECYCLED, WASTE AND SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS IN THE PRODUCTION OF LUXURY HANDWOVEN TEXTILES - INDIVIDUALLY DESIGNED AND HANDMADE IN LONDON
Freya graduated in 2018 with a degree in Textiles and Business Studies, specialising in Weave. In a time of mass production she creates products to tackle our throwaway culture and to celebrate handcraft, up-cycling and conscious consumption.
Freya draws inspiration from both the Bauhaus and Arts & Crafts movements, which were sparked by the industrial revolution and anxieties over the soullessness of manufacturing and the loss of craftsmanship.
As a hand-weaver, Freya aims to highlight the value of traditional craft in order to shift consumer mind-set and ask people to focus on buying quality over quantity. All of her products are woven using sustainable, recycled or waste materials. Freya uses colour and pattern to create traditionally crafted products with a contemporary design.
